MEET LAKIE DERRICK
Fighting for Faith, Family, & the Future of Freedom.
Lakie Derrick is a lifelong Sullivan County resident and a committed Christian guided by her faith, her family values, and a deep belief in freedom and personal responsibility. At just 23 years old, she represents a new generation of conservative leadership rooted in conviction and action, running to represent District 10 on the Sullivan County Commission.
Lakie is a 2024 graduate of East Tennessee State University, where she earned a Bachelor’s degree in Media Communications. While at ETSU, she co-founded the campus Turning Point USA chapter and served as its founding board member and president. In that role, she worked to energize student engagement, build community partnerships, and host nationally recognized conservative speakers, helping bring important conversations to campus.
She also holds a Master’s degree in Strategic Communication from Liberty University, strengthening her ability to communicate clearly, persuasively, and with purpose.
Lakie has hands-on experience in public service and grassroots politics, having served as Field Coordinator for the Bobby Harshbarger State Senate campaign and as an office aide in Congresswoman Diana Harshbarger’s district office. Today, she leads Club America Volunteer, Turning Point USA’s high school program in East Tennessee. In just five months, Lakie helped grow the region from one chapter to fifty-four, a 5,300 percent increase, reflecting her ability to organize, inspire, and deliver results.
Lakie attends Gravelly Baptist Church and leads a summer Bible study for middle and high school girls, investing in the next generation of leaders. Guided by her life verse, Joshua 1:9, she strives to live boldly, lead with integrity, and serve her community with courage and conviction.
